A Music Event to Save Town Hall
The topic for our assignment was Town Hall and specifically promoting an event to help fund the earthquake strengthening of the building. Our idea was to host a live performance music event called 'Magnitude 7.1'.
THE EVENT
‘Magnitude 7.1′ is a free event dedicated to the people of Wellington. It is designed to be an escape from the everyday, having a range of easy going music. The website has integrated the nature of this, exploring the power music has on communities and town hall information. The website has a means to stay connected, share and help donate to the cause. The function and aesthetic have been kept lively, simple and fun for ease of use interest. Visual flare through the website creates points of difference and interest from the audience. Bold brighter colours have been used to contrast the dulled nature of the orange blue backgrounds to create excitement and attract attention.
Poster
We have approached our event's aesthetic from a branding perspective with the idea that the consistent use of the orange and black theme as seen on all touch points, encourages brand awareness and recall. The motion graphic teaser video and poster serve as our first touch points. Both of these are to be used as forms of promotion and will aim to be present both online and in the city. Following this allows people to then travel onto our website and quite literally follow our narrative of viewing this event has a positive and communal way to rebuild the Town Hall. This action can be achieved through the website visitors voluntary donating and actively sharing and signing up to our event.
